You know what’s the funniest thing? One of the reasons Bankia needs so much money is because they have toxic property assets, meaning properties really difficult to sell in this economy. Since the start of the financial crisis, in 2008, over 300000 houses have been mortgaged, 300000 families who have been kicked out of their homes.

With Bankia current rescue, 23500 million €, it would have been possible to pay the debts of most of them. Those people would have their own home, so they wouldn’t have to worry so much about bills, which means they could spend much more on everything else, which would help to keep the money flowing and would mend a little the economy.
 
At this point there’s only two explanations, either we are governed by absolute idiots or we are governed by criminal sociopaths. Take your pick.
